Feeling Achy? Red Light Therapy Could Help

Have you heard of red light therapy? If not, it could greatly benefit you!

Red light therapy is safe, effective, and non-invasive. It works by using a spectrum of light that travels into the tissues and joints to increase oxygen and blood flow. In return, this helps enhance cellular repair and reproduction, thus promoting the healing process and aiding in pain relief.

If you’re in pain, red light therapy could be the answer you’ve been looking for! Contact Lewy Physical Therapy today to consult with one of our Baton Rouge and Denham Springs, LA, physical therapists and learn more about this treatment method.

What should I know about red light therapy?

When red light therapy is applied to the affected area, it works to improve the function of the mitochondria, where cell energy is created. The light travels deep into your body to get to the root of the issue and repair damaged cells.

As stated by Healthline, “By increasing the function of the mitochondria using RLT, a cell can make more ATP [adenosine triphosphate]. With more energy, cells can function more efficiently, rejuvenate themselves, and repair damage.”

While this may sound a bit daunting, it is important to note that red light therapy is a completely safe and pain-free treatment option. Many patients do not feel anything at all during RLT sessions, although a light tingling sensation may be experienced.

In fact, Healthline also states that “RLT is different from laser or intense pulsed light (IPL) therapies because it doesn’t cause damage to the skin surface. Laser and pulsed light therapies work by causing controlled damage to the outer layer of the skin, which then induces tissue repair. RLT bypasses this harsh step by directly stimulating regeneration of the skin. The light emitted by RLT penetrates roughly 5 millimeters below the skin’s surface.”

How can I get started?

If you’ve been living with pain and you think you could benefit from red light therapy, don’t hesitate to contact our Baton Rouge and Denham Springs, LA, physical therapy clinic today.

You don’t have to live in pain – Lewy Physical Therapy is here to help!
